Mommy Notes 3 Months
Since Kayla was born back in September I have posted a ton of pictures and video. Mainly because our dearest friends and family live far away from San Antonio, Texas. However, I thought it would be good to add mommy notes once a month as Kayla grows.
What is going on this month?
Christmas is over, 2011 is around the corner and my maternity leave is quickly coming to an end. Who would have thought that 3 months would go by so quickly. I have greatly enjoyed being at home with Kayla these past three months. I have been amazed just how quickly Kayla has grown and what she has accomplished in the first three months of her life. But I am also happy to gain back a piece of the person I was prior to her arrival. The kicker is that I cannot see her amazingly cute face whenever I want. Which will kill me and also maintain my sanity all in one.
With all that said Kayla is Daycare bound.... I decided to go with a Daycare that cares for infants only with care provided in a home environment. I choose in-home after looking at 5 daycare facilities and deciding for the first year or so I am much more comfortable with Kayla being in a home environment. Ms Lilly is state certified and comes highly recommend. Right now she only has 6 kids and I have talked to prior parents and current parents and all are thrilled with the care Ms Lilly provides. Not to mention her house is less then a mile from my house. I can prob get there in 5 min if I catch/run the lights. This situation makes me very happy!
The Little House
Aunt Patti sent Kayla a few books for night time reading. The Little House was Patti's favorite when she was a kid.

Kayla at 3 Months
Kayla turned three months old on December 16th. Looking back she has grown so much in the short three months she has been with us and Mike and I have enjoyed every moment with her. Her sneakers were courtesy of [a].
Her current Weight is about 9lbs. I will have a more accurate number when she has her 4 month dr visit.

Kayla Kicks
Knowing Mike and I we were anticipating a active kid. ALL the books say 10 min of play time is about it at this age and then the baby is tired... well the books do not know Kayla. She can do this for hours........Kayla loves to kick her feet and she gets frustrated when she is confined and cannot move her legs. We are in for some fun!

NFL Sunday
Kayla finally fits into 0-3 month clothing. Or at least I can put it on her without having it fall off of her. She is also starting to show facial expressions. This was the first Sunday that Kayla was in appropriate NFL clothing. Notice her sneakers..cutesy of Beckett's mom.
This is all well and good if you are a Bills fan. But you know father and daughter need to bond on something.... I say GOOOOOO EAGLES!

Two Month Dr Visit
Kayla had her 2 month Dr visit. Here are the highlights.....
Wt: 7 lb 8 oz
Kayla is in the 4% which means she is still small but growing....Seriously we did not expect her to be average.
Immunization: First 4 shots in. Kayla took the shots well but was not happy later when her leg hurt. She ran a slight fever but nothing a little Tylenol could not fix.
All and all Kayla is doing well.. YIPPEE

Two Month Update
Within the second month of life Kayla should be....
* Vocalize in ways other then crying-- Kayla has discovered her voice she loves to coo but also loves to yell out or squeal in a high pitched voice. I will say she is being heard.
* Respond to noise--- The dogs bark and Kayla startles
* On stomach lift head 45 degrees-- Kayla is getting stronger and stronger and is able to lift her head 45 degrees. She can also hold up her head steady for a bit before she gets tired and look side to side.
* On stomach rise chest supported by arms-- Kayla has just started to do this in her 9th week of life. It is amazing to watch her achieve these milestones.
* Grasp a rattle in her hands-- We are working hard on this one. Kayla will grasp small things like the strap on the camera or pull your hair. Several times she got my hair and my necklace. While the grandparents were here there was a lot of chest hair pulling.
* Smile-- This has been the best milestone yet. Kayla smiles and it will melt your heart, I promise you. Just recently she had added in a squeal of delight which is so much fun! Kayla has also started responding to my smile. Not every time I smile at her but at least once a day.
Couple of things we are working on...
Still working the tummy time
Reaching for objects... not sure on this one yet
Focus on a small object-- I need better confirmation
