Kayla is 5 Months
Our little Kayla Lue is 5 months old.
The start to this month has been fantastic! Kayla has been eating cereal for a few weeks and just moved into real foods. Bananas and Sweet Potatoes so far....Yum! Kayla is really enjoying eating food with flavor. She makes yum sounds while eating. Often she will take about 4 bites and doze off to sleep. Other days like today she totally surprises me and eats the whole container.

Kayla's New Big Girl Toy
Kayla has moved up to the sitting play gym. There are so many interesting new animals to look at. We are having a blast playing with all our new friends. There is a Lion, Panda Bears, Birds and a Penguin! Kayla has not started reaching out to interact with the animals I think she is too captivated by all the colors. She ends up just starring wide eyed at each section as I rotate her around. Then she takes a nap!
Funny thing is she cannot touch the bottom of the play gym yet. The Dr does not want her tippy toeing so I put the phone book there for her feet to rest/push off on. She is so little!

Milestones-- 4 Months
Kayla is rounding out her 4th month and is working towards some pretty big goals. A lot of the milestones for the 4th month are the same as prior months. To keep things fresh I am going to try and pick out the new things that Kayla has developed this month.
*Kayla is able to keep her head level with her body when pulled to a sitting position.
*Kayla's little fingers are always moving. They are either in her mouth or holding a toy. She is able to grasp items with ease at this point and I always make sure she has some type of toy to play with.
*Kayla is working on sitting up on her own. You can tell she really wants to sit up but is not quite there yet. I hope to accomplish this during her 5th month.
*Kayla's biggest feat this month was trying out cereal. She is now a pro at eating cereal, making a mess and fits comfortably in her high chair. We are really enjoying having Kayla at the dinner table with us. I am looking forward to getting her on additional solid foods.
* Kayla still loves it when you sing to her. It is something that brings her so much joy I had to add it in yet again. Dad sings to her at night during infant massage and she just illuminates with happiness. It is the cuties thing you have ever seen!
I love watching her grow!Happy Valentines Day!

Next Steps for Kayla
As Kayla heads towards her 5th month she has accomplished so many things.
Beginning cereal was a biggie. The first week we experimented with cereal I had Kayla in her car seat. Now... drum roll please Kayla has graduated to her high chair. Thanks to Frank and Barb for the high chair hook up! I love that Kayla can now join us at the dinner table.

Best Cereal Clip Yet
It always amazes me what you get excited about when you have a baby. Patti and I were into our second day of cereal feeding and this clip is by far the best one we have gotten. Am I the only one who gets excited about cereal?
