Week 37...She's Arrived!
As we moved into Week 37 everything was moving along as usual. My Dr apt on Wed was normal. I was a bit tired but nothing that seemed abnormal for being 9 months pregnant.
They Story........
However, Thursday morning I was feeling pretty crampy. I actually thought it was just gas or constipation. Around 9 in the morning I told my manager that I needed to lay down for a bit. I jokingly told her I was not in labor.... About 10 am I went back to work still feeling off but not to bad. Around 2:00 I was on a conference call transitioning work. When I felt this gush of fluid.... I did a quick check and ummm things were not normal! I told those on the call that I needed to log off and IMed my manager. Sorry Tamika for scaring you! I ran into the bathroom to assess the situation and the fluid kept coming... this was not a test... I called Mike and told him "I am bleeding come home' I called my Dr and got ready for the Hospital. Mike showed up threw me in the car along with a half packed hospital bag and we headed to the hospital. I was escorted to triage and there we confirmed my water had broke.. Peanut was not in distress. However, today would be the day that we would finally see her.
Peanut was in breech position. Which means my Dr would only perform a c-section. Around 5ish I went in for the epidural and we got started on the c-section. It really only took about 30 min start to finish and at 5:56 on 9/23/2010 Our little Peanut was born.... Kicking and screaming I might add. She came to Mike and I full of energy and sticking her tongue out at us.
Peanut was born with low birth weight for gestational age. I was 37.5 weeks along and only weight 4.2 lbs upon delivery and was 15 inch long. Peanut was moved to NICU for evaluation. The Dr's confirmed she was in good health just needed to get her weight up before coming home.

Week 35 Update
If you have been noticing that you need more bathroom breaks than usual, it may be due to the fact that your baby has "dropped". As your due date grows near, your little one will settle deeper in your pelvis. This reduces pressure on your rib cage, allowing you more room to expand your diaphragm, but now there may be more pressure on your bladder.
By week 35, your Peanuts kidneys are completely developed. Her liver is also beginning to produce waste. In fact, a majority of her growth is already done. However, you should expect her to put on some more weight over the next few weeks. As space is at a premium, you may not feel as much tossing and turning inside of you, but you will definitely feel some healthy punches and kicks.

Week 36 Update
Peanut at this point is measuring maybe 17 inches long, and weighing about 6lbs! During week 36, your baby's most important job is to keep putting on weight. Actually, that's his primary job from now until delivery.
You probably have another 4 weeks to go until delivery, especially if this is your first pregnancy, but "Full Term" refers to the period between 37-41 weeks, so your baby could be coming any time now! Your due date is probably a good guideline to determine when your little one is coming. Even though few women deliver on their actual due date, many women deliver in the days just before or after.
The nursery is set. I put together the rocker this weekend and we just have some finishing touches on the nursery before Peanut gets here. The car seat is in the car ready to go. Beast feeding class is behind me and the only thing remaining is the hospital tour! Things are moving so quickly!

Week 34 Update-- Safety Zone
What is so great about week 34? Week 34 represents the turning point where my Dr will not stop labor. The reason for this is babies born 34 week or older do very well outside the womb. Although Peanut is not fully cooked yet she would be fine outside the womb. This makes me super happy as a preemie myself this week represents the safety zone for me! YIPPEE!
Peanut is measuring maybe 17 inches long, she now weighs over 5lbs! And from this week, until 2 weeks before birth, she will continue to gain about a half pound of weight every week. Unlike the first trimester, the weight between all babies in the third trimester is much more variable. Some babies weigh more and are taller; some babies weigh less and are shorter.
Also unlike the first trimester, by week 34 not much is changing. Your baby continues gaining weight through the development of subcutaneous fat and with that weight, is probably gaining strength in his movements. You may even be startled by a sudden jab to the ribs or be able to see a punch to your belly from the outside!
