Kayla, Sandi and Patti were ready for a day of shopping. The weather was a perfect 75 degrees and Kayla was in the appropriate clothing. What did we buy? A few outfits and of course SHOES!

More Cereal Moments 1/29/2011
Kayla is not real sure she likes cereal... but what the heck. Mike has warned her to eat cereal and breast milk as long as possible. Anything to avoid my cooking. :)

Kayla's First Try at Cereal
Kayla had Cereal for the first time this weekend! Mike and I decided we were going with as much Organic food as we can for our little Kayla . The bowl was Mike's when he was a kid. I thought it would be fun to add it here to the blog so everyone could get a full visual. Overall Kayla did really well for her first time on a solid food. No gas, no projectile vomit. I got some great video with our new video camera ( Thanks Grammy and Boopie). I can only load little clips to the blog but you will get the basic idea.

Normally a baby gorws about one inch a month. I did not write down her head cercumfrance but she is growing there as well. The Dr completed a very thourough exam to check Kayla's motor skills and progression with her milestones. So far the Dr is very happy with Kayla's progression.

Kayla at 4 Months
Crazy as it may sound Kayla is already 4 months old. Dad and I have started to sit Kayla up. Using the couch for support. This process should begin to get her used to the sit up position. This also gives her a new vantage point that she enjoys.
As we continue our adventure Kayla has already started to change in the 4th month. Her eyes are changing. I am not sure where we are going but we are headed away from blue. She has also discovered her fingers and greatly enjoys mashing them together in amazement! Sunday night Kayla grabbed Dad's glasses. No sure sign this was intentional but it was a first....Great things are yet to come.

Di's Project Jan 2011
My Friend Diana suggested that I take a picture of Kayla every day for a week or so to see if you can see her changes.... I started the first day of day care. The pictures are all a little strange because I took them at 6 in the morning and with low lighting. Well what do you think? Do you see a change? I think she look chunkier in the purple outfit...

Milestones-- 3 Months
Within the third month of life Kayla should be....
* On stomach life head 90 degrees-- Kayla is able to lift her head 90 degrees. She looks side to side and is able to hold up her head when I hold her. She likes to follow us around the room. When you are holding her she likes to be watching the world around her and taking everything in. She will even turn away from you and then turn back. Mostly she does this when Dad starts making faces at her and she is laughing and having fun.

* Laugh out Loud or Squeal in Delight-- Kayla has gained a ton of new vocalizations. She squeals, laughs, coos and is making all kids of oooing and laaaa noises. I voice them back to her and it cracks her up. I sing to her and the change in octave makes her LOL. I would share that video but you do not want to hear me sing. Fav song right now that makes her squeal, Crazy
* Smile Spontaneously--Kayla loves to smile, she smiles all the time. when she gets up in the morning, during her baths, play time. The only time she does not smile is during tummy time. She is to focused to smile during tummy time.
* Razzing-- Kayla makes this wet razzing noise when she gets up in the morning. Super cute.
* Bear some weight on her legs-- Kayla has been able to do this since about 2.5 months. She cannot support herself long but we practice every night.
* Grasping items-- Kayla has kind of started to reach for items. I am not sure if she is doing this intentionally or not.
* Couple of things we are working on...
Tummy time is still a big part of her routine. Kayla is rolling herself over with out the tummy time pillow.
Kayla has discovered her abdominal she likes to lift her legs and butt up in the air as if she is working her lower abs
Kayla is coming up with new sounds everyday. Such a joy to listen to!
Kayla is sleeping through the night and then some. She sleeps 8-10 hours per night consistently.
Kayla's most favorite thing to do now is chew on her fingers. She likes this so much she tends to hit her gag reflex. Babies do funny things.....

Kayla Week 15
Kayla has just started to lift her head and shoulders. This new movement began happening over the weekend. Now she does it all the time. It is like she is obsessed with sitting up. The best part is watching her get frustrated, she cracks me up.

Our New Routine
Our normal life before Kayla is a distant memory and now we are embarking on a new routine. My returning to work has kicked us all into high gear. Our new routine has been smooth sailing so far and is a surprisingly quiet start to my day.....
I am up at 6:30
I feed the cat and dogs
I wake Kayla up, (Yes I have to wake her up) It is probably the best part of my day walking into her room turning on her light and seeing her eyes open, see me and smile.
Kayla gets dressed
Kayla eats
We spend a little cuddle time together
Kayla hangs out in her chair listening to classical music waiting for Dad to take her to day-care.
So far so good......
